Trade Recognition Australia (TRA)
It stands for Trade Recognition Australia and is the skills assessment body only concentrated towards the trade skills gained either in Australia or overseas for general migration purposes and other selective reasons. The services within TRA is based on different program options available. The different programs in Trade Recognition Australia are described below:
Job Ready Program
It is an employment-based skills assessment program for international student graduates with an Australian qualification. JRP is crucial as it provides the applicant with the opportunity of developing their skills and gaining employment experience at an Australian workplace. There are four steps in JRP called Provisional Skills Assessment, Job Ready Employment, Job Ready Workplace Assessment and Job Ready Final Assessment.
Offshore Skills Assessment Program
It is for applicants requiring skills assessment to apply for a skilled migrant visa. There are two assessment pathways available in OSAP which are pathway 1 (applicants without any Australian qualification in their trade) and pathway 2 (applicants having a relevant Australian qualification or occupational license).
Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Skills Assessment
This skills assessment program in TRA is for those trade-related professionals who require skills assessment to apply for TSS via (Subclass 482). Just like the OSAP program, there are two pathways available for applicants of this program as well i.e., pathway 1 (applicants without any Australian qualification in their trade) and pathway 2 (applicants having a relevant Australian qualification or occupational license).
Migration Skills Assessment
This skills assessment program (MSA) is specifically for those trade professionals who require skills assessment for applying to the Department of Home Affairs for a skilled migration visa. For eligibility in this program, the qualification must be directly related to your nominated occupation and you must also have the require amount of employment experience in your occupation. You should have worked in your nominated occupation in the Skilled Occupation List for 3 years full time or equivalent amount in part time after the qualification was issued. If you are using an RPL pathway, the work experience of 3 years will be required after RPL is issued or a combined value of 6 years of experience conducted before and after RPL (a combination).
